Griffith welcomes Dame Meg Taylor

TESS NEWTON CAIN  |

Dame Meg Taylor is the former Secretary-General of the Pacific Islands Forum and a member of the Pacific Elders Voice. She recently visited Griffith University and was awarded an honorary doctorate. In her speech to the Griffith Business School graduates, she made a powerful call for a greater understanding of Pacific identity as the basis for collective action to address climate change and other challenges in our region.

Dame Meg spent a number of days with us at Griffith from 27 July to 1 August 2023, where she met with students and staff. She expressed her delight in learning about how much Pacific focus there is at the University, across our research, our engagement, our student mobility, and more. Griffith Pacific Hub and the Queensland branch of the Australian Institute of International Affairs co-hosted a public event that saw Dame Meg in conversation with award-winning journalist and Griffith Asia Institute Industry Fellow, Stefan Armbruster.

Tenk yu tru Dame Meg for visiting us, we look forward to welcoming you again soon.
