One of the reasons that\u2019s been offered for India\u2019s perceived reticence on the Quad is its \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/world-news\/india-s-china-reset-unstable-world-brings-modi-and-xi-together-for-now\/story-H9F8l1tHKsj53X2QNpXjPL.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reset<\/a>\u2019 of relations with China after the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thediplomat.com\/2017\/07\/whats-driving-the-india-china-standoff-at-doklam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tense military standoff<\/a>\u00a0between the two nations last year at the India\u2013Bhutan\u2013China border junction in Doklam.<\/p>\n<p>Given this, it\u2019s worth asking whether the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mea.gov.in\/press-releases.htm?dtl\/29853\/IndiaChina+Informal+Summit+at+Wuhan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wuhan summit<\/a>\u00a0between Xi Jinping and Narendra Modi, which formalised the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/warontherocks.com\/2018\/04\/dancing-with-the-dragon-deciphering-indias-china-reset\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018reset\u2019<\/a>\u00a0in April, was really a game-changer for India in the Indo-Pacific. The answer is \u2018no\u2019. The conciliatory change in New Delhi\u2019s attitude to Beijing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tribuneindia.com\/news\/comment\/india-coy-on-doklam-wuhan-facts\/634848.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">that started in February<\/a>\u00a0is nothing but tactical manoeuvring.
