Associate Professor Leigh Shutter from the Griffith School of Environment was awarded an Australia-Japan Foundation Grant last month.<\/p>\n
This grant will support for in-depth research and record technology of the historic laneways in Osaka project that is collaborating with the Osaka Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n
Associate Professor Leigh Shutter had recently completed the associated project of urban morphology and heritage study of Enning Road in Guangzhou, China in February this year.<\/p>\n
This project has been helpful for building a cross-cultural educational platform forming the basis for an urban morphology and heritage study.<\/p>\n
From the previous project, it had introduced new 3D laser mapping technologies developed by Australia to Australian and Chinese architectural students, and its 3D scanner outputted a realistic 3D virtual model of the streets and their architecture.<\/p>\n
Founded on the recent Guangzhou project, Professor Shutter said this upcoming Osaka project will support a continuous historical research on studying cultural heritage as the previous project did show the outcome.<\/p>\n
