We can call this \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NXSnsVEoe4Y&amp;t=1085s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nudge diplomacy<\/a>\u201d, and it stands in stark contrast to the more assertive stance of his first term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Much of India\u2019s new foreign policy approach can be understood by looking at what Modi did not say in his speech. Delivered 10 days after the abrogation of articles 370 and 35A, which stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its special autonomous status, Modi carefully omitted mention of Pakistan. Yet he spoke about the threats of global terrorism to India\u2019s neighbourhood of Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, and the greater need for India to \u201c<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.narendramodi.in\/text-of-prime-minister-shri-narendra-modi-s-address-to-the-nation-from-the-ramparts-of-the-red-fort-on-the-73rd-independence-day-546008\" target=\"_blank\">unite all world forces to end terrorism<\/a>\u201d.
