The vaccination capacity of India will be increased to produce 1 billion doses by 2022, the leaders announced in a joint statement, as US and Japan&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/bcf5ff42-ac7f-4533-8fc2-b3e50a5e13ba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plan to fund<\/a>&nbsp;Indian production of Johnson and Johnson\u2019s single-dose vaccine, which Australia will then distribute across Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will undoubtedly boost India\u2019s vaccine diplomacy efforts where it has been providing vaccines to the developing countries, both in its neighbourhood as well as globally. So far&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mea.gov.in\/vaccine-supply.htm?fbclid=IwAR2e-6FS346UzuZYGy5E-YhDS4jEFqQjk-waGCe8oC1I8wwIGxJsFkVYVTk\" target=\"_blank\">71 countries<\/a>&nbsp;have received vaccines manufactured in India, fast garnering it the title of \u201c<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/foreignpolicy.com\/2021\/01\/22\/india-world-pharmacy-vaccine-diplomacy-compete-china\/\" target=\"_blank\">the world\u2019s pharmacy<\/a>\u201d.
