The arcane ADIZ term denotes a block of airspace established over, and usually somewhat beyond, a nation\u2019s territory in which any unknown approaching aircraft is sought to be identified. Not to be outdone by this&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2021\/oct\/04\/taiwan-reports-record-chinese-incursions-into-its-air-defence-zone\" target=\"_blank\">growing media<\/a>&nbsp;attention, the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-asia-58780258\" target=\"_blank\">US State Department<\/a>&nbsp;has declared it is also \u201cvery concerned\u201d as this \u201cprovocative military activity near Taiwan \u2026 is destabilising, risks miscalculations, and undermines regional peace and stability\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most helpfully, Taiwan\u2019s Ministry of National Defense is maximising the media value of all this good geostrategic grist for the mill by&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mnd.gov.tw\/PublishTable.aspx?Types=%E5%8D%B3%E6%99%82%E8%BB%8D%E4%BA%8B%E5%8B%95%E6%85%8B&amp;title=%E5%9C%8B%E9%98%B2%E6%B6%88%E6%81%AF\" target=\"_blank\">regularly publishing summaries<\/a>&nbsp;of the what, where and when of PLAAF incursions into its ADIZ. These reports give some interesting insights into Chinese air capabilities, operations and tactical procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just to reassure, the PLAAF\u2019s air operations are in international airspace.
