Intense pre-COP negotiations resulted in a number of substantial commitments in the first week of the meeting. On day two, there was the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ukcop26.org\/glasgow-leaders-declaration-on-forests-and-land-use\/\">Glasgow Leaders\u2019 Declaration on Forests &amp; Land Use<\/a>, a global pledge to end and reverse deforestation by 2030. More than 100 countries signed up, covering land containing about 85 per cent of the world\u2019s forests.
