Library tip of the week: Tackle exams with confidence

Exams are a significant milestone in your uni journey, marking the end of each trimester. While they can be challenging and stressful, a bit of planning and preparation can help you tackle them with confidence.  Here are our tips to navigate the exam period.

Create a study schedule

A structured plan helps you avoid procrastination.

  • Prioritise tasks and identify your most important commitments.
  • Use the Pomodoro technique to divide study time into manageable chunks.
  • Set clear goals for each session.
  • Allocate time for leisure and self-care.
  • Adjust your schedule as needed and be kind to yourself when things change.

Take care of your health

When you are well-rested, nourished and energised, you can perform at your best.

  • Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night.
  • Eat balanced meals, including fruit, vegetables, protein and whole grains.
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Incorporate enjoyable physical activity into your routine.

Study effectively

Study smarter by using different study techniques.

  • Engage actively by asking questions and summarising content in your own words.
  • Simulate exam conditions to get used to the format.
  • Create diagrams that connect concepts and ideas.
  • Use flashcards for quick, repetitive review of key terms.
  • Explain the material to a friend or study group.
