In the lead up to\u202f\u202fOpen Data Day<\/a>\u202fwe\u00a0explore\u00a0how researchers can make data\u00a0open and\u00a0F.A.I.R<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0F.A.I.R is a set of guiding\u00a0principles\u202fto make\u00a0data\u00a0Findable, Accessible, Interoperable\u00a0and Reusable. Applying these\u00a0principles\u00a0enables\u00a0standardised\u00a0metadata (data about data),\u00a0\u00a0stable\u00a0and persistent\u00a0links to\u00a0the data\u00a0and\u00a0improves\u00a0human\u00a0and\u00a0machine\u00a0discoverability\u00a0and readability.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Dr Jessica Paynter, Senior Lecturer in Applied Psychology at Griffith University\u200b\u00a0has\u00a0recently\u00a0\u00a0made\u00a0research data\u00a0F.A.I.R.\u00a0open\u00a0whilst protecting the privacy of study\u00a0participants.\u00a0Jessica\u2019s\u00a0recent\u00a0research\u202ftests the most effective strategies to de-bunk autism treatment myths.\u00a0Her findings were\u00a0published in\u202fPLoS\u00a0ONE journal\u202fand\u00a0are\u00a0supported by\u00a0a de-identified version of data used in the study and other important supporting materials.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

PLoS\u00a0ONE<\/a>\u202fand many peer reviewed journals require that authors submit data to support their articles and enable verification of findings.\u202f The availability of data, protocols, analyses and code are all\u202fsolutions to help prevent bias and improve the reliability and trust in research as discussed by\u202fIoannidis et al..<\/a>\u202f\u202fHowever,\u202fsharing data from research requires informed consent and protection of the privacy of participants.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
