NAIDOC Week 2020 is from\u00a0<\/span>8<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u2013<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>15 November<\/span>\u00a0and the theme for this year is\u00a0<\/span>Always Was, Always Will Be.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Always Was, Always Will Be<\/span><\/i>\u00a0recognises\u00a0that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that Australia’s story didn\u2019t begin with documented European contact\u2014the very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Griffith University is proud to have\u00a0<\/span>Queensland\u2019s largest cohort of indigenous students and the\u00a0<\/span>second largest\u00a0<\/span>number of\u00a0<\/span>First\u00a0<\/span>Nations<\/span>\u00a0a<\/span>cademic staff in Australia.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our\u00a0<\/span>Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander<\/span>\u00a0staff and students\u00a0<\/span>continue the tradition\u00a0<\/span>of being\u00a0<\/span>this continents<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>explorers, navigators, engineers, farmers, botanists, scientists, diplomats, astronomers and artists<\/span>. A tradition that<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>stretches<\/span>\u00a0back thousands of years before the\u00a0<\/span>construction<\/span>\u00a0of the Egyptian pyramids and Stonehenge<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

NAIDOC\u00a0<\/span>Week<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>2020\u00a0<\/span>encourage<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0all Australians to embrace the\u00a0<\/span>full<\/span>\u00a0history\u00a0<\/span>and culture\u00a0<\/span>of this country<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>which dates back thousands of generations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
