Today, Wednesday 1 September\u00a02021,\u00a0is\u00a0<\/span>Indigenous Literacy Day<\/span>!\u00a0This day is an initiative from\u00a0the Indigenous Literacy Foundation\u00a0(ILF),\u00a0an\u00a0organisation\u00a0dedicated to lifting literacy levels in remote Indigenous communities across Australia.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Literacy is a vital part of children\u2019s education. By donating, fundraising or\u00a0<\/span>participating in other ways<\/span><\/a>, you can facilitate Indigenous children\u2019s access to books and help improve their literacy, ensuring their futures have more choices and opportunities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

‘We are seeing children bring parents, Elders and communities together to support their learning pathways, and the Indigenous Literacy Foundation is critical in enabling these children to be whatever they wish to be\u00a0in this world.’<\/span><\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The theme for Indigenous Literacy Day\u00a0this year\u00a0is\u00a0<\/span>Celebrating Stories and Language<\/span><\/i>. Storytelling and\u00a0<\/span>languages<\/span><\/a>\u00a0play\u00a0a\u00a0significant\u00a0role in many\u00a0Indigenous cultures,\u00a0enriching\u00a0connections to Country and\u00a0ancestors.\u00a0To celebrate\u00a0Indigenous Literacy Day, the ILF has collected\u00a0<\/span>over 40 inspiring\u00a0videos<\/span><\/a>\u00a0from Indigenous\u00a0authors, musicians and artists\u00a0to showcase their diverse stories.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
