Referencing is an important part of academic\u00a0work. It shows that you acknowledge where the ideas you are presenting come from and demonstrates\u00a0the breadth of your research and\u00a0your ability to\u00a0support\u00a0<\/span>academic integrity.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are some tips to\u00a0help you stay on top of your referencing:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Know your style<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Did you know that there are different referencing styles?\u00a0Each style has its own rules and conventions.\u00a0Check your\u00a0course profile in\u00a0Learning@Griffith\u00a0to make\u00a0sure you’re using the right one. Once you know your style, find out\u00a0the details by visiting\u00a0Griffith\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Reference Guides<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Manage your references<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Record information about each resource that you use\u00a0in your assignment.\u00a0You will need to note\u00a0the\u00a0who, what, when and where\u00a0of every resource\u00a0according to the referencing style you\u2019re using. Also take note of the resource type:\u00a0is it\u00a0a book, journal article or website?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prepare your reference list and proofread<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Once you have your reference list put together,\u00a0refer\u00a0to the\u00a0<\/span>Reference Guides<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to make sure your list complies with\u00a0the rules of\u00a0your\u00a0reference style.\u00a0Are your references in the correct order? Have you included all the information you need about each resource? Have you formatted your list properly?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
