The 2022 theme for the day is \u2018One Ocean, One Climate, One Future \u2013 Together.\u2019 Griffith University works in partnership with other research institutions to provide valuable insight into ways in which our oceans can be preserved.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">World Ocean Day provides advocacy and awareness for conservation efforts and climate change issues. The event website provides <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/worldoceanday.org\/resources\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">resources<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and ways you can <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/worldoceanday.org\/take-action\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">take action.<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> World Ocean Day has a close alignment with a number of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To learn more, join the Sustainable Blue Economy forum at the UN Ocean Conference bit.ly\/UNEOCSBEIF\" width=\"420\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SustDev\/status\/1530059473368268801\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/SustDev\/status\/1530059473368268801<\/a>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The \u2018blue economy\u2019 refers to ocean-based development opportunities with environmental stewardship and protection.<\/p>\n<p>Griffith University is a signatory to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.griffith.edu.au\/griffith-sciences\/ecocentre\/sustainable-development-goals\">Sustainable Development Goals,<\/a> and is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/news.griffith.edu.au\/2021\/04\/22\/griffith-ranks-highly-in-sustainable-development\/\">ranked 38th in the world<\/a> in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for taking meaningful strides towards accomplishing SDGs such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>good health and well-being<\/li>\n<li>reduced inequalities<\/li>\n<li>peace, justice and strong institutions<\/li>\n<li>partnerships for the goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the context of ocean sustainability, Griffith is a partner in the <a href=\"https:\/\/blueeconomycrc.com.au\/partners\/\">Blue Economy Cooperative Research Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15463 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/testblogs.griffith.edu.au\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2022\/06\/heron-island-field-trip-1280x1280-1.jpeg\" alt=\"A person is snorkelling below the surface of the water.
