Wednesday 1 March, 10 am \u2013 11.30 am<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>Conveying the argument in academic writing<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Develop a clear argument in your writing and learn how to identify arguments in the writing of others.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 2 March, 10 am \u2013 12 noon <\/span><\/b>Systematic style reviews in Health: Building a robust search strategy<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This workshop demonstrates expert search techniques using an example systematic review research question. The workshop will include topics like search concepts and synonyms, adjacency searching, subject headings (MeSH) and more.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 8 March, 10 am \u2013 12 noon<\/span><\/b> Introduction to digital texts and tools for HASS<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This information session introduces digital methods and tools to find, access and build a corpus or text dataset and prepare textual data for analysis\u2014including transcription tools and data recognition (OCR) to ensure machine readability.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 9 March, 10 am \u2013 11 am<\/span><\/b> Formatting your Thesis – Q&A<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Upon registration, participants will be provided with a resource containing video lessons on how to use Microsoft Word’s automated settings and features to apply consistent formatting throughout a document and manage long documents efficiently. Participants will then have the opportunity to ask further questions during the online Q&A session.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 9 March, 12 noon \u2013 2 pm<\/span><\/b> Literature search strategies for Systematic Quantitative Literature Reviews (SQLR)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This session demonstrates the development of a robust, well-documented search strategy, designed to locate all eligible material using an example review question. The session incorporates active learning components where the participants can apply and integrate the techniques discussed into their own search strategy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 15 March, 10am \u2013 11.30 am<\/span><\/b> Managing your research literature<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Explore practical strategies and tools researchers can use to both identify and make sense of themes in research literature, and manage and organise references and research material.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 15 March, 12 noon \u2013 1.30 pm<\/span><\/b> Data Visualisation Basics<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Explore methods and tools to create publication quality visualisations of structured, tabular data.\u00a0 Tools covered include MS Excel and open source tool Raw Graphs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 16 March, 11 am \u2013 1 pm<\/span><\/b> Organisation and Evaluation of resources for SQLR<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Discover tools and techniques researchers can use to quantitively analyse and organise the literature for a Systemtatic Quantitative Literature Review (SQLR). The workshop will use EndNote and Microsoft Excel to demonstrate the initial set-up for an SQLR database. This is the second of two SQLR workshops.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 22 March, 10 am \u2013 11:30 am<\/span><\/b> Introduction to REDCap at Griffith<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Learn how to build and deploy projects in REDCap (REsearch Data CAPture), one of Griffith’s supported research survey tools. This session is for anyone looking to gather qualitative data from participants but will be most valuable for researchers considering clinical and longitudinal trials.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 23 March, 10 am \u2013 11.30 am<\/span><\/b> Copyright, Publishing and Open Access considerations<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This seminar will examine copyright, publishing and open access considerations across all research disciplines.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 23 March, 12 noon \u2013 1 pm<\/span><\/b> Researcher Profiles \u2013 Symplectic Elements and Griffith Experts<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This workshop is aimed at academic staff who are researchers who are seeking to collect and manage their research outputs through Symplectic Elements and enhance their Griffith Experts profile to ensure their academic dashboard is up-to-date.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 29 March, 10 am \u2013 11.30 am<\/span><\/b> Writing the Literature Review<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Building on the <\/span>Managing your research literature<\/span><\/i> workshop, learn strategies to help plan, structure and write your literature review.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 30 March, 10 am \u2013 12 noon<\/span><\/b> Working with Sensitive Data<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This workshop uses practical and discussion-based training to inform researchers about responsibilities when working with sensitive data. The workshop explains and demonstrates strategies to mitigate disclosure risks and promote data security and privacy protections.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
