This Earth Day, 22 April, we are being urged to take up arms against the climate crisis and \u2018Invest in Our Planet\u2019 together. This year’s theme highlights the need for urgent action to address the climate crisis and create sustainable, green economies for everyone.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Earth Day 2023<\/span><\/a> aims to unite every sector of society\u2014governments, businesses, institutions and citizens alike\u2014in collective action against the climate emergency, calling for us to \u2018act (boldly), innovate (broadly), and implement (equitably)\u2019 to restore our planet\u2019s health.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Deeply committed to the wellbeing of the Earth and those who call it home, sustainability and social justice have been at the heart of Griffith\u2019s values since its inception in 1975. <\/span>The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals<\/span><\/a> (SDGs), which are embedded in our <\/span>Strategic Plan<\/span><\/a>, articulate these values and are seen by Griffith as fundamental to building a healthy, prosperous, and equitable future for all.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the ways in which Griffith targets <\/span>SDG 1<\/span><\/a>3: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts<\/span><\/a> is through interdisciplinary research and collaboration with industry, government and the community on key climate action initiatives. A longstanding leader in climate research, Griffith <\/span>ranked fourth globally<\/span><\/a> for publications on climate change adaptation in 2021.
