During this live stream event, our panel of Griffith experts will share their approaches to open access which prioritise the best interests of the public and the academic community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Following on from our previous posts introducing our <\/span>facilitator<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>two of our panellists<\/span><\/a>, we would like to introduce our final two panellists: <\/span>Associate Professor Nadine Connell<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Professor Kyra Hamilton<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nadine is Deputy Head of School (Learning & Teaching) in Griffith\u2019s <\/span>School of Criminology and Criminal Justice<\/span><\/a>. Her research focuses on school violence, juvenile delinquency prevention, program and policy evaluation, and open search protocol methodologies. She has received grant funding from state and national agencies to better understand decision-making in at-risk youth, violence and drug prevention in schools, and the etiology of school-shootings. In her spare time, she enjoys running marathons and checking out Australia\u2019s beautiful beaches.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nadine Connell<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kyra<\/span> has psychology and nursing qualifications and over 30 years\u2019 experience<\/span> in health. She is <\/span>a P<\/span>rofessor in the School of Applied Psychology and <\/span><\/span>Menzies Health Institute Queensland<\/span><\/span><\/a>,<\/span> and Faculty Member in the Health Sciences Research Institute (HSRI), University of California, Merced. She is founder and director of the <\/span><\/span>Health and Psychology Innovations (<\/span>HaPI<\/span>) research laboratory<\/span><\/span><\/a>. Her <\/span>main areas<\/span> of research are health psychology and behavioural medicine with <\/span>particular interests<\/span> in health behaviour motivation, self-<\/span>regulation<\/span> and change. She focuses on behaviours of national and international importance to understand and intervene to change the <\/span>beliefs, attitudes, motivations and behaviours of individuals, health professionals and policy makers. <\/span>Kyra<\/span> is particularly interested in understanding the multiple effects of motivational, <\/span>volitional<\/span> and automatic processes on health behaviour and applying integrative models of behaviour change as well as translation of research findings into policy and practice.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
