NAIDOC Week<\/a>\u2019s theme \u2018<\/strong>Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud\u2019<\/strong> emphasises the enduring strength and vitality of Indigenous cultures and knowledge, passed down through generations of the oldest continuous cultures in the world.<\/p>\n

As we begin to forge a future where the stories, traditions and knowledge of First Peoples is respected and used as the enriching fabric of a nation, how do we incorporate, acknowledge and celebrate this in our research?<\/p>\n

In striking the match, we need to think about the \u2018how\u2019 of our practices and methods. We need to consider the ways in which our practices and our views have been shaped by our world view and experiences.<\/p>\n

The Library in collaboration with the Indigenous Research Unit has developed a guide to start your journey to understanding and incorporating respectful practices and methodology into your research.\u00a0 The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research<\/a> guide provides a comprehensive listing of resources as well as advice on evaluating research, assessing resources and working respectfully with indigenous data.<\/p>\n

Keep the fire burning this NAIDOC Week! Let’s learn, be inspired, and pay our respects to the Elders \u2013 the custodians of knowledge for generations.<\/p>\n
