Wednesday 4 September, 10am to 12noon<\/span><\/b> – <\/span>Systematic style reviews: Tips and tools for getting from start to finish\u202f<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Learn about tips and tools that can simplify your systematic and systematic-style reviews from start to finish. The workshop includes guidelines and protocols, research questions and search strategies, and screening and documenting your searches.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 5 September, 10am to 1pm<\/span><\/b> – <\/span>Working with sensitive data\u202f<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With a focus on the “Five Safes” framework and principles of sharing data, the workshop explains and demonstrates strategies to mitigate disclosure risks and promote data security and privacy protections. Provides a framework and skills on all aspects of the practical and appropriate management of sensitive data.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 11 September, 10am to 11am<\/span><\/b> – <\/span>EndNote Q&A\u202f<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Learn the basics and start using EndNote using the Library\u2019s EndNote Basics Tutorial, then register to join the Endnote Q&A live virtual session. Bring your questions and get answers and tips from specialist librarians and other EndNote users.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 11 September, 1pm to 3pm<\/span><\/b> – <\/span>Data visualisation basics<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Explore methods and tools to create publication quality visualisations of structured, tabular data.\u202f Tools covered include MS Excel, Raw Graphs and R.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 18 September, 10am to 12noon<\/span><\/b> – <\/span>Systematic style reviews in health: Building a robust search strategy\u202f<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Learn expert search techniques using an example systematic review research question. The workshop will include topics like search concepts and synonyms, adjacency searching, subject headings (MeSH) and more.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 18 September, 1pm to 2.30pm<\/span><\/b> – <\/span>Introduction to computational thinking\u202f<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This workshop introduces computational thinking as a precursor to learning how to write code in programming languages like R or Python. It will cover the steps involved in breaking down complex problems into computable chunks.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 19 September, 12.30pm to 2pm<\/span><\/b> – Introduction to digital texts and tools for HASS research\u202f<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This information session introduces digital methods and tools to find, access and build a corpus or text dataset, then prepare textual data for analysis, including transcription tools and data recognition (OCR) to ensure machine readability.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 25 September, 10am to 12noon<\/span><\/b> – <\/span>Introduction to data cleaning with OpenRefine\u202f<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Data cleaning prepares raw or messy data and transforms or maps it into a structured and organised format to enable processing and analysis.\u202f Learn basic data cleaning techniques using open source tool OpenRefine in this hands-on workshop.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday 1 October, 10am to 11.30am<\/span><\/b> – <\/span>Copyright, outputs and open access considerations for creative and performing arts\u202f<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

This seminar will examine copyright, research output and open access considerations pertaining to creative and performing arts research including theses, articles and book chapters, film, music, photography, painting, sculpture, on-line art, mixed media, design, dramatic and musical performances and scripts.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 2 October, 10am to 11.30am<\/span><\/b> – <\/span>Conveying the argument in academic writing\u202f<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Develop a clear argument in your writing as well as identifying arguments in the writing of others. This workshop is suited to Higher Degree Research candidates.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 2 October, 1pm to 2.30pm<\/span><\/b> – <\/span>Springer Nature publishing workshop\u202f<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Publishing in highly selective journals:<\/span><\/i> We will discuss editorial process Open Access, cover letters, abstract writing, how to appeal decisions, and alternative types of publishing opportunities like Reviews & Commentary.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Publishing 101- Books<\/span><\/i> : We’ll address common questions to help demystify the process, including information on publishing formats, preparing a book proposal, steps to publication, and Open Access in book publishing.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
